CONCEPT

The Watershed Association Development Enterprise was incorporated in March 1983, as the vehicle responsible for economic development in the communities of Cherry Brook/Lake Loon, Lake Major, North Preston, East Preston and now including Dartmouth African Nova Scotian Community.

WADE is the progression of the Lake Major Joint Action Committee, the organization responsible for the preparation of the Municipal Development Plan for the Communities.

The communities designated WADE to maintain and implement activities in the following areas as identified by the Municipal Development Plan:

  • Financial Resources Development
  • Employment Opportunities
  • Public Information / Safety
  • Community Development
  • Land Titles Clarification
  • Recreation & Leisure
  • Water and Sewer
  • Human Resources
  • Land Assembly
  • Housing
GOALS
  • Develop an economic base within the communities of North Preston, Lake Major, East Preston, Cherry Brook/Lake Loon and Dartmouth African Nova Scotian.

  • Co-oridinate services and encourage cooperation between the communities

  • Monitor the Development Plan & Zoning By-laws for the Communities.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WADE is managed by a 14-member Board of Directors.

Comprising of voting and non-voting
  • Two elected representatives from each of the five communities.

  • Four appointed representitives from Public, Private and Professional sectors.

  • Regular meetings of the Board of Directors are open to community residents.
