The Watershed Association Development Enterprise was incorporated in March 1983, as the vehicle responsible for economic development in the communities of Cherry Brook/Lake Loon, Lake Major, North Preston, East Preston and now including Dartmouth African Nova Scotian Community.
WADE is the progression of the Lake Major Joint Action Committee, the organization responsible for the preparation of the Municipal Development Plan for the Communities.
The communities designated WADE to maintain and implement activities in the following areas as identified by the Municipal Development Plan:
- Financial Resources Development
- Employment Opportunities
- Public Information / Safety
- Community Development
- Land Titles Clarification
- Recreation & Leisure
- Water and Sewer
- Human Resources
- Land Assembly
- Housing
