Programs



WADE will pursue its goal through specific programs:

Human Resource Development
  • Leadership training program to provide skills to Community leaders in Planning, Policy Development, Conflict Management, Program Evaluation;
  • Youth training in assertiveness, communication, responsibility, self-confidence;
  • Staff upgrading programs.
Economic Programs

The Land Assembly will form the base of WADE's economic trust, 750 acres will be developed to provide

  • Housing
  • Asset Map
  • Forestry Management
  • Commercial and Industrial sites
  • Agriculture-crop and Hog farming
WADE Outreach
  • Job Search
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Employment Counselling
  • Pre-placement and Post-placement assistance
  • Self-assertion and Confidence
Public Information
  • The WADE News provides the communities with update and relevant information on WADE's activities and other community activities
Recreation Programs
  • Geared to meet those needs that can best be provided on a regional basis. EXAMPLE; the development of Lake Eagle for swimming, hiking, camping, a children's playground
FUNDING
WADE received funding from a variety of sources:
  • Human Resources Development Canada
  • Dept. of Municipal Affairs ( core-funding )
  • County of Halifax
  • City of Dartmouth
  • Dept. of Social Services
  • Secretary of State Dept.
However, the aim of the corporation is to be self-sufficient by generating funds through economic ventures.
